The Southern California office of a major international law firm seeks an associate for its Patent Prosecution Group.


PROFILE:

---Candidates must have 2 to 5 years of experience

---PhD in Molecular Biology

---JD, LLB, LLM

---Strong writing skills, and excellent academic credentials
---Experience in obtaining effective domestic and international patent, and other related intellectual property protections for clients.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

---Conducting due diligence, evaluating intellectual property assets, avoiding potential liabilities, correcting title defects, and preparing licensing and related intellectual property agreements and handling complex prosecution matters including interferences, reexaminations, reissues, protests, appeals to the Board of Patent Appeals & Interferences ("Board") and appeals from the Board to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. ("Federal Circuit")

---Advising clients on matters related to the rules and regulations covering development and commercialization of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, including the standards under FDA regulations and the Lanham Act, biotechnology, bioinformatics, immunology, agricultural biotechnology, gene therapy, genomics, proteomics, vaccines and drug delivery.

---Providing cost-effective counseling in internal and external intellectual property procedures, offensive and defensive intellectual property strategies, intellectual property protections and enforcement in order to monetize intellectual property assets.
