The Los Angeles office of a major US-based international
law firm seeks a highly motivated lateral associate for
its Business and Finance Practice Group.
PROFILE:
---The candidate should have 3 to 4 years of comparable
law firm experience in energy and general corporate work
---JD, LLB, LLM
---Strong writing skills, and excellent academic
credentials
---Contracting, administrative litigation,
investigations, and/or project experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
---Working with private institutions as well as
institutions such as the World Bank Group, International
Finance Corporation, Overseas Private Investment
Corporation, U.S. Agency for International Development,
and others to secure funding and perform an initial
feasibility study
---Advising electric utilities on matters related to the
operation of regional transmission organizations, retail
gas electric and gas competition, Open Access
Transmission Tariff (OATT) operations, standards of
conduct compliance
---Negotiating energy transactions, including contracts
involving traditional as well as renewable energy
resources
---Drafting agreements for the purchase, sale and
financing of energy as a commodity, energy assets,
including pipeline and gathering facilities, storage and
distribution facilities, power plants, and refining and
natural gas processing facilities.
