The Real Estate Capital Markets Group of an international law firm seeks one mid-level tax associate.

QUALIFICATIONS

---JD, LLB
---3-5 years experience in representing issuers, underwriters, sponsors and lenders in connection with structuring and financing publicly and privately owned real estate companies, including real estate investment trusts (REITs), real estate partnerships and funds, investments by tax-exempts and foreign investors
---Applicants must have strong drafting and negotiation skills
---Top academics and ability to work independently and as part of a team is desirable
---Applicant must be licensed to practice in Illinois.

RESPONSIBILITIES

---Providing ongoing advice on structuring and negotiating commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions, including a full range of post-issuance issues, loan assumptions, modifications, workouts, REMIC-related issues and defeasance transactions, representing master servicers and special servicers.
---Representing a wide range of real estate capital markets participants in their worldwide investment and financing activities including real estate funds, commercial and investment banks, real estate investment trusts ("REITs"), real estate and hospitality companies, and financial institutions and investors.
---Assisting clients with the acquisition and disposition of individual properties; portfolios of properties and nonperforming loans; real estate mergers and acquisitions; public and private offerings of debt and equity involving REITs and other real estate and hospitality companies; debt securitizations; credit lease and sale-leaseback financings; and real estate equity financing and joint ventures.
