The Washington DC office of an international law firm
seeks an attorney to handle transactional, compliance,
and regulatory and related court proceedings at both the
State and Federal levels.
QUALIFICATIONS:
---JD, LLB, LLM
---1-3 years of
FERC-related energy experience
---Strong writing skills,
and excellent academic credentials
---Contracting,
administrative litigation, investigations, and/or
project experience
---Prior experience in appellate litigation is helpful but
not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
---Representing Independent System Operators, rural
electric cooperatives, and municipal systems before the
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the courts, the
Department of Energy
---Advising electric utilities on matters related to the
operation of regional transmission organizations, retail
gas electric and gas competition, Open Access
Transmission Tariff (OATT) operations, standards of
conduct compliance, and the interplay of federal
wholesale regulation and state and local retail
regulations
---Negotiating energy transactions, including contracts
involving traditional as well as renewable energy
resources
---Drafting agreements for the purchase, sale and
financing of energy as a commodity, energy assets,
including pipeline and gathering facilities, storage and
distribution facilities, power plants, and refining and
natural gas processing facilities.
